Joanna Sullivan

Joanna joined the European Environmental Bureau in September 2014 just as the new Juncker Commission was appointed. Joanna works closely with the Secretary General, Policy Directors and the Communications Team, leading on organisational development and outreach.
A seasoned advocate and political strategist for civil society, Joanna has designed trailblazing campaigns on phthalates, GMO, chemicals, food and farming, sustainable development, social entrepreneurship, economic inequality and climate change, and has led training and capacity building programmes within international institutions on strategic planning, communication, brand integrity and stakeholder relations.Prior to joining the European Environmental Bureau, Joanna ran her own consultancy business for NGOs, institutions and progressive corporations for seven years, was Director of Communications for Consumers (BEUC) and Friends of the Earth Europe for ten years, and prior to that worked in political affairs for a US corporation, the UK food industry and the European Parliament.Joanna enjoyed her childhood years on a small-scale organic farm, attended school in Cambridge, and University in Cardiff (UK), Granada (ES) and Nice (FR), and since 1992 lives in Brussels with her three children. Joanna speaks English, French and Spanish.
