Gita Parihar

Gita Parihar is Head of Legal at Friends of the Earth England, Wales & Northern Ireland. She specialises in Aarhus rights at both the domestic and international level including working on public participation in international negotiations. She has brought legal action in the UK courts on a range of matters, from climate change to protected species.  She provides legal advice to Friends of the Earth international during the climate negotiations and spent four months on secondment with the EEB in the early part of this year looking at the application of Aarhus rights at EU level. Gita is a UK qualified solicitor and holds a Master’s degree in international environmental law and human rights. Before joining Friends of the Earth she worked for development NGO Actionaid and for environmental and human rights law firm Public Interest Lawyers.
